Advanced Learner Loans

Advanced Learner Loans can be used to fund some of our Professional Qualifications, accrediting bodies that have fundable courses include; AAT, ILM and CILEx. These are government backed loans to help you pay for selected level 3 and 4 courses.

Loans have to be paid back. however you won't have to pay anything back until you earn more than £21,000 a year. The loan doesn't depend on your income and there are no credit checks. For more information or to apply we've, please click here.

The 24+ Advanced Learner Loan system is changing from from 1st August 2016, opening up opportunities for learners aged 19+.

The Advanced Learner Loan is intended to help learners pay their course fees for eligible courses, the loan pays the course fee charged by the college or training provider. For courses that begin before 1 August 2016, learners must be aged 24 or over and be studying for an eligible qualification at level 3 or 4 but from 1st August 2016 things are about to change.

On or after 1 August 2016 learners aged 19 or over who are studying for an eligible qualification at level 3 to 6 can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan, therefore opening up this stream of funding to learners at a younger age who were previously not eligible. The new system will also expand the opportunity to study at level 5 and 6, previously level 4 was the highest level funded by Advanced Learning Loans.

The amount of money available to the learner depends on their course; the minimum they can borrow is £300. It’s easy to apply, there’s no credit check and the learner’s household income isn’t taken into account.

Learners won’t have to pay anything back until they’ve finished their course and are earning over £21,000 a year. Repayments are linked to what the learner earns, not what they owe; they pay back 9% of the money they earn over £21,000. Repayments are taken directly from the learner’s wages through the tax system and they can make voluntary repayments at any time.

The repayment calculator for Advanced Learner Loan can be used by prospective learners to work out an estimate of how much their loan will cost and how long it will take them to repay.

Learners can find out more about the Advanced Learner Loan and apply at www.gov.uk/advancedlearnerloan

To apply, a learner will need a Learning and Funding Information letter; this will be issued by their learning provider. Learners should apply as early as possible and can change details of their application later if they need to.

NCG Direct currently deliver ILM Level 3 & 4 Diploma’s, AAT Level 3 and 4, CILEx Level 3, all funded by an Advanced Learner Loan, for more details visit our courses section of our website.
