The LLB (Hons) integrates academic and practical learning through close collaboration between employers and other organisations providing related services. The programme will provide students pathways for lifelong learning and the advanced opportunity to progress into employment or education. This Degree programme has been intended to meet the needs of the local employment market but also reflect national and international employment needs.

The LLB (Honours) in Law and Practice is a Qualifying Law Degree with a practical focus. As the course is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, successful completion will mean learners can progress onto either the Legal Practice Course (LPC), or the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC).

This programme is designed and directed at individuals who wish to pursue a career in Law and Practice but do not have any formal legal qualifications. This course will act as the first academic step towards working within the legal sector with future possibilities of employment including Solicitor, Legal Executive, Lawyer or Barrister.

Level 4 - Year 1

Introduction to Law &Practice, Legal Skills, Law of Contract, Law of Tort, Civil Litigation Practice, Public Law.

Level 5 - Year 2

Criminal Law, Criminal Litigation & Evidence, Equity & Trust, EU Law, Land Law, Optional Module (Employment/Family/Wills & Succession).

Level 6 - Year 3

Dissertation, Client Care Skills, Option 1 - Linked Law (Contract/Tort), Civil Litigation 2, Optional Module (Criminal Law/Land Law), Optional Module - Practice (Criminal Litigation/Conveyancing).

All learners will be assessed by an admission decision. Learners must hold either: 1 A-Level qualification, BTEC National Diploma (NVQ / GNVQ Level 3 or above), CILEx Level 3 Qualification, ILSPAs Legal Secretary Diploma.


Learners over the age of 21 who do not hold one of the above qualifications are invited to apply where an admission decision can be made on prior work experience.
