Level 2 covers a range of basic accounting practices and techniques, from costing and double-entry bookkeeping to computerised accounts.

AAT Level 2 consists of 5 units:

  • Processing Bookkeeping Transactions (PBKT)
  • Control Accounts, Journals and the Banking System (CJBS)
  • Working Effectively in Accounting and Finance (WKAF)
  • Basic Costing (BCST)
  • Computerised Accounting (CPAG)
  • A Personal On-line Tutor who will guide and support you through your studies
  • Learner view is where you can access your course site, set targets, view tutor notes and access assessments grades.

You will have access to a course site which will contain all the necessary learning materials, tools, support and information required to enable you to successively complete your course. 

You will be assessed using a range of methods including written assignments and exams

After successfully completing the introductory certificate in accounting you can study – the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting (Distance Learning) with NCG Direct or progress to the Foundation Degree in Professional Accounting Practice (Distance Learning) with NCG Direct.

Each level of the AAT Accounting Qualification is a qualification in its own right, This means as you progress through each level, the skills you've learnt can be applied to a wider range of roles - from Accounts Administrator through to senior level positions such as Commercial Analyst.

Potential Salary Range:
Introductory: £10,000 - £24,000
Intermediate: £11,000 - £25,000
Advanced: £14,280 - £28,000

*Salary range is taken from AAT's 2015 Salary Survey for people working full-time. Ranges represent the middle 75% at each level of the qualification. 

Unlike other qualifications there are no entry requirements with AAT Level 2 Certificate and you don’t need relevant work experience. This means that this qualification is ideal if you’re thinking of changing career and looking to move into accountancy.
