Programme Leader (HE & Institute of Leadership and Management)

Neil is the Programme Leader for the school’s Institute of Leadership and Management provision and the Foundation Degree in Business Management. In addition to his role at Newcastle College, he runs a games design business, performs marketing consultancy and acts as a charity trustee.  He is also a graduate of Lancaster University Business School and holds a degree in Management Sciences (Marketing) and a Master’s Degree in Management. Neil has a background of working in marketing, communications, print, social housing, and hospitality

Colin Stainton


Colin has worked as a company secretary in the corporate and voluntary sector where he had responsibility for company administration, business contracts, contracts of employment, HASAW and employment relations. He also has considerable experience teaching Law on professional programmes and on Foundation Degree programmes. In addition, Colin has worked for City Guilds designing and moderating Law assignments and the marking schemes, as well as editing the learning materials including being the editor in chief for the consumer law option.

Dr Boris Pajkovic

Programme leader for Postgraduate and Business programmes

I am the Programme leader for Postgraduate and Business programmes  I hold a PhD from Newcastle University where I researched the economic and political transformations of the post-communist societies.  My MA degree (Newcastle University) was in Political Economy and an MA from Central European University (CEU) was in European Studies.  I have been teaching in Newcastle College for the last 16 years and my DTELLS (teaching qualification) focused on the support for international student learning.  I am a member of CMI and Society for Education and Training (formerly Institute for Learning).

Dr Terry Shevels

Lecturer and Dissertation Supervisor

I am your dissertation module leader for the MBA programme.  I am a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol), Chartered Scientist (CSci)) and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS) with extensive experience in education and training both in the UK and overseas.  I have a publications listing from 1992-2013 of     24 papers/articles which have been published across a range of differing publications including: Education Today, Journal of Training and Management Development Methods, The Journal of the Fire Service College, The Fire Engineers Journal, Fire Safety Technology and Management, Tourismos, FIRE, Selection and Development Review (BPS), The Competence Bulletin, Journal of Quality, International Review of Humanitarian Research, Academic Leadership Journal, the Disasters Journal, Review Internationale, and the American Quality Association Journal.

Stephen Campbell Glass


Steve is a Barrister and Legal Advocate with responsibility for the receipt of legal and client instructions in relation to County Court and Police Station Representation. He holds an LLM with Distinction along with his Bar Council Membership.

Prior to completing his Legal Education, Stephen was employed as a Chief Inspector - Criminal Justice Strategy for Durham Constabulary and as a Lead Inspector for Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary.

Paul Noble


I am an experienced and passionate Personal Online Tutor specialising in the field of Human Resource and Personnel Management across a range of ILM and undergraduate degree programmes. I am also an experienced tutor for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and have worked closely with professional bodies for 20+ years.

I have a wide ranging industrial/ business background having worked in the NHS, Pharmaceutical, Retail, IT Software, Hotel and Brewing Industries, on a wide range of projects. My own CPD over the years has consisted of work regionally with CIPD North East. Former member of CIPD North East and national CIPD committees and working parties. Roles included Vice Chair, Membership, Secretary, TEC/LSC liaison, CPD mentor, Education Sub Committee.

I am now actively engaged with supporting student CPD development on both professional and academic programmes here at NCG Direct and also involved as a mentor on CIPD "Next Steps" national programme.

Allison Williams


I am a professional, committed qualified teacher having completed a Certificate of Education through the University of Sunderland. I have taught finance and accounting on a range of courses including AS and A2 Accounting, BTEC in Business, HNC/D in Business and CIMA Managerial Level. Currently I teach units on levels 2, 3 and 4 of the AAT qualification. I have also recently assessed and verified units at level 2, 3 and 4 and taught AAT Level 3 for Sunderland College and assessed computerised accounts for East Durham College.

I am an examination marker for AQA marking the ACCN2 module of A2 Accounting and have recently been appointed as an Assessment Associate for Pearsons.

I have a proven ability to teach, motivate and direct learners to reach their full potential. I have the academic knowledge and industry experience to inject real world knowledge into lessons having worked recently with a CIC setting up their account.

Bernadette Craven


I am a Chartered Public Financial Accountant (CCAB) and have worked in industry and education as a management accountant before taking my Certificate in Education. I have taught finance and accounting on a range of courses including all levels of the AAT and both undergraduate and postgraduate level in Higher Education. I was Head of School during my time at Tyne Metropolitan college.

I am an Internal Verifier for the AAT and hold this position within three further education establishments.

Adrian Miller

Senior Lecturer

Adrian’s role at Newcastle College includes teaching AAT courses, Financial Management modules and foundation degree courses.  During the past 25 years, he has taught on a range of academic and vocational courses in Further and Higher Education, including GCSEs, A Levels, professional and undergraduate programmes.  Adrian has also been involved in apprentice training. His main subject area in recent years has been Accountancy.  Other disciplines have included Government and Politics, Business Studies, Economics and Business Law.  Adrian holds a degree in Economics and membership of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, and his experience contributes to the delivery and development of the BA (Hons) finance modules

Denise Nicholson

Lecturer and AAT Programme Leader

Denise is a highly experienced Accounting professional whose role at Newcastle College is that of Programme Leader for the school’s AAT provision.  Denise currently teaches on both AAT Level 2 and AAT Level 3, however, over the past eighteen years has delivered on a range of accounting programmes at GCSE, A Level and professional level.  She is also involved in apprentice training and gained her Assessors Award in Business Administration.  Denise is a BA (Hons) graduate in Business Management (Finance) and also holds the AAT qualification.

Sandy Drossou

Lecturer and Programme Leader (CIPD)

Sandy is a highly experienced enthusiastic professional, Leadership & Human Resource Management academic lecturer and CIPD Level 7 Internal Verifier.

Qualified at CIPD Chartered status professionally & academically involved in strategic management, consultancy, coaching and mentoring of students and employees; she has expertise within various issues of human resource management such as, employment law, learning & development, talent management, organisational development & change, entrepreneurship, employee relations, business ethics, international marketing and global corporate strategy. 

Emily White


Emily is a Fellow of CILEx and has been since June 2009.

Emily has been practising Law since leaving College and originally qualifying as a Scottish Paralegal living in Edinburgh. Once qualified Emily joined the Scottish Paralegal Association and worked in one of Scotland’s top Law Firms in Dispute Resolution. Upon moving to England her studies continued with CILEx.

Emily’s main legal areas of practice are Personal Injury Law and Civil Litigation. However she also has much experience and regularly advises clients with regard to matters relating to Employment Law and the Practice of Wills and Succession.
